This has been a fairly tough month for us delicately nurtured British Indians. We moved to Delhi as a family for the month of April...and my son started school here. Not the fancy american, british or international schools - for I do not trust their academic standards. Not the airconditioned GOenkas of the world, for we want to be as tough as the rest of them.
And Boy, are we becoming tough! It is the heat more than anything else that bothers us,slows us down. I am used to delivering at least 8 pieces of work in a day, here I manage barely one. My son,who is one of the most independent children I know, who will take on any academic challenge is reeling from the newness of it all.
To him, and for every change situation in his life I want to quote Iqbal:
Khud hi ko kar buland itna ke har taqder se pehle
Khuda bande se khud poche bata teri raza kyahe
By Allama Iqbal [/quote]
